Aikidogi - Deluxe 750g Sashiko Ori

Product code: AG-3-750

£41.67

These models have been specially made to better suit the purposes of the Aikido practitioner, as the best alternative to Judo style suits which are not really ideal for this art.   All Gi include trousers and are supplied complete with white belt.

Special Features on the AG-3 Deluxe Aikido Gi:

Extra Soft Material - This Deluxe 750g Sashiko Ori fabric has undergone a special softening process in addition to having a brushed cotton interior, greaty increasing the comfort.

Short Sleeves - All traditional Japanese clothing has a ¾ length sleeves.  For unarmed arts this is particularly practical as there are many grabs to the wrists and suchlike which can be impeded by the longer Judo style sleeve.

Minimised Reinforcement -  Due to the nature of Aikido it is not necessary to heavily reinforce the lapels of the Gi.  Reinforcement therefore serves no purpose for an Aikido Gi other than to stiffen the suit considerably and make it more uncomfortable to train in.

Fewer Seams - Bulky seams have been minimised by manufacturing the Gi from two pieces only, front and back.  This increases the overall strength of the Gi whilst removing the seam at the top of the shoulder and arm which makes the cut of the Gi better and rolling falls more comfortable.

Double Layer Apron - A common point of failure of Judo Gi is on the apron part.  As a result the lower apron section of our new Gi has been made with two layers of soft fabric to eliminate this problem.  This softened fabric also makes the Gi especially suitable to be worn with Hakama.

Very nice gi. Tough material that takes Aikido practise firmly in its stride. Very heavy. Probably not the most ideal gi for summer practise but in the winter you will be in your oils in this. Plenty of bang for your buck and well worth it.

Excellent service from nine circles again. This aikido Gi really is 1st class, it feels a bit heavy at first, but you get used to it very quickly as it's comfortable . I think this Gi will last a few years due to it's quality.

Beautiful quality in the Gi and Hakama I received from 9 circles. Excellent communication due to having embroidery stitched in. A faultless service and now a dedicated customer gained from the experience.

Bought two of these four years ago, training three times per week and they are still looking great. These Gi will last forever, and they look great!

Being new to, but genuine towards the study of Aikido, I found this supplier via our association website. While uncertain (as all beginners are) I took a leap of faith and ordered all my equipment from here (based upon 'quality not quantity'). From initial advice to aftersales support I could not have made a better investment. At 40 seldom have I seen comparable customer support, and my equipment will certainly serve me for years and years to come. Do not seek a 'bargain' - buy from here.

I purchased this gi some while back when I decided to become committed to practicing Aikido. My previous gi was a top quality black karate gi, from Germany for training in ninpo taijutsu and jujutsu. The white Tengu gi is the only suitable gi for serious aikido available in UK, in my view. Takes ukemi very well and the knee pads good for suwariwaza. This gi is top-top quality and nice it's from Japan too.

I've just bought one of these today and having tried it on at Nine Circles and then again when I got home, I have to agree with Aki Proud. These are lovely to wear and I had the same concerns having been using a lightweight karate Gi with ties. Also big thanks to Martyn for his expert advise on which would be the best fit for me.

After years of training with an old lightweight standard Gi, I thought I would treat my self to what had been touted around as the ultimate quality Aikido Gi. Nine Circles description is not wrong, this Gi is an absolute joy to wear. Yes, straight out of the packet the dead weight of the jacket is quite unexpected and it is, even after a few washes, a little stiff. Do not let this put you off, because when you tie your Obi, the jacket sits over the Obi a little (and because the jacket is heavy / stiff) and thus takes the weight, you do not feel the weight of the jacket, it sits beautifully, almost floating over your shoulders. My other initial concern was that there were no internal flap ties, with my old Gi moving a round on me quite a bit even with the ties, do not let this put off either. The trousers supplied are long enough to be worn / tied around the belly button, so when you tie your Obi around your waist the trouser line is higher than the Obi line, which stops the Gi from moving around too much.
