Oak Daito - 102cm

Product code: Daito

Prices from £10.00

Ideally suited to Kendo Kata and most other sword arts, our standard Bokken is a superior player in the performance stakes.

Available in:

Shiro Kashi - Top class white oak Japanese weapons.  These weapons have a straight, fine & consistent grain throughout their length and have the perfect balance of strength and flexibility.

Aka Kashi - Top class red oak Japanese weapons.  Red oak is slightly more dense than White oak, producing slightly heavier weapons usually.  A great alternative to the Shiro Kashi, with a wider grain which runs through the length of the weapon.

Chaironuri Kashi - Brown stained oak weapons.  Made from the same high class Shiro Kashi, but selected for staining due to less consistent natural finish.

Includes Tsuba & Dome.

  • A good one for medium or big hands

My new white oak weights the same as my old bokken, but is thicker in all parts. It is perfectly fine for me, but maybe not the best for smaller hands. Tsubadome is tight enough, better than my previous one. In jodo, to practise hikiotoshi-uchi safely, it makes sense to make the tip more round (sandpaper or something) to avoid deep dents to one's jo from missed strikes.

Being new to, but genuine towards the study of Aikido, I found this supplier via our association website. While uncertain (as all beginners are) I took a leap of faith and ordered all my equipment from here (based upon 'quality not quantity'). From initial advice to aftersales support I could not have made a better investment. At 40 seldom have I seen comparable customer support, and my equipment will certainly serve me for years and years to come. Do not seek a 'bargain' - buy from here.

I have the following from this company; jo, (red and white,) bokken (red) kama and tonfa, and red and white bo staffs. they are all top quality and fantastic to train with. I work with wood and I can vouch for the oak use in the weapons I have from this site!

My first bokken; pleasantly surprised by the weight and happy to get a tsuba with it. Looks and feels great for the very low price.

Good value product for entry level bokken. Purchased on behalf of another to replace one I split into two practicing Kashima Shinnyo-ryu aiki-ken. The bokken that broke was clearly unmaintained by the dried out look. But I felt it proper to at least make a replacement... that's karma neh?
