These Shinken represent the finest quality steel swords available at this price on the market today. This is because our Shinken are made specifically with the martial arts practitioner in mind and all of our swords represent, in both balance and construction, the traditionally made Japanese sword.
The Shoden range offers our most economical option for those looking to purchase a Shinken. Supplied with a top quality hand polished, forged blade, the differential tempering creates a variance in hardness between the Ha and the Mune, commonly between 58-60HRC at the Ha and 38-42HRC at the Mune. These swords are fitted with steel hilt fittings and matt Saya which are manufactured especially for this range. Saya are available in both black and brown Ishime (matt) finish and all hilts are cotton bound with authentic rayskin insert and cotton Sageo.
These swords are razor sharp and are only suitable for experienced Iaido practitioners. Swords with grooves (Hi Ire) are specifically designed for advanced Iaido practice (solo kata) and not for test cutting. Swords without grooves (Shinogi) are suitable for test cutting of appropriate targets.
These swords do not include a stand.
