Thought to date back to the Nara period (AD 710 to 794), Furoshiki are a highly traditional way to wrap and carry clothing and other small items. Formed from a hemmed square of fabric perfectly sized to bundle a full set of clothing and accessories, Furoshiki can be tied in myriad ways, an art-form in its own right.
Traditional Tombo pattern – Deeply rooted in Japanese culture, the Tombo (dragonfly) motif is one of the oldest designs found on ancient Japanese artefacts and is considered a national icon. Also known as the Katsumushi (victory insect), the dragonfly was considered to represent strength among the Samurai class.
Large Size – at 100x100cm, this wrap can easily accommodate a range of volumes, tying more tightly for smaller items and less compactly for bigger bundles.
