Kurin produce professional quality Iaito for the international market, but unfortunately they ceased their activities after the pandemic and are no longer in business.
The very purpose of an Iaito is to emulate a real sword as closely as possible, whilst eliminating the danger factor involved with practicing with a live blade. These unique stainless steel Iaito fulfil that function to perfection.
Blade geometry, weight, balance, material flex and performance are all designed to closely replicate the characteristics of a high-quality Shinken, making these Iaito an excellent option for Seitei and Koryu Iai practice.
This 2.45 shaku Iaito weighs approximately 927g, providing a solid and substantial feel while retaining the balance and handling characteristics expected from a professional Iaito.
These swords are strictly for use outside of Japan, where the law proscribes the use of superior stainless steel materials for the production of unregistered blades.

Iaido Blade - The blades are slimmed down and feature a full Hi to reduce overall weight and improve balance.
430 Stainless Steel - The ideal balance between strength and flexibility, this tempered 430 stainless steel behaves similarly to the high-carbon steel found in Kurin's production Shinken and is not subject to the stress factors sometimes seen in alloy Iaito blades.
Mirror Polish - A major advantage over alloy Iaito, these blades are polished to a mirror finish. This eliminates the risk of chrome fatigue and allows damage from accidental contact with the floor or other blades to potentially be polished out.
Cast Kanagu - Cast fittings in classic Japanese designs bring an additional touch of class to complete the package. Patina and finish may vary from images.

This particular Iaito is offered at a reduced price as it is a discontinued product. The model is no longer part of the current production range, making it the only piece available in stock.
The Iaito is supplied in its existing condition and is subject to our standard final inspection before dispatch.
It is supplied with a spare seconds Saya. The Saya is an additional seconds item and may display cosmetic imperfections, variations in finish, or other minor manufacturing/finish issues.
Please inspect the images carefully before purchasing and take the condition of the Saya into consideration. The blade itself is supplied as pictured.

Please note, blade measurements are taken in the traditional way, from the Kissaki (tip) to the Mune Machi (termination of the spine), not to the Tsuba.
Wipe the blade after every practice session with a soft, clean, dry cloth to remove fingerprints, moisture and dust.
Keep the blade lightly oiled with a suitable sword maintenance oil, particularly if the Iaito will not be used for an extended period. Avoid excessive oil, as this can damage the Saya or fittings.
Store the Iaito horizontally or blade-up, in a dry environment away from excessive humidity and rapid temperature changes.
Keep the Saya clean and dry and periodically check the fit of the blade inside the Saya.
Inspect the sword regularly for loose fittings, damage or changes in the Saya fit.
Important: These Iaito are intended for Iaido practice and are not sharpened cutting swords. Always handle and maintain them responsibly and follow the safety requirements of your dojo.
