The Tombo (蜻蛉), meaning dragonfly, is a traditional Japanese motif with strong associations with Japanese culture and Budo. The dragonfly is often linked with qualities such as agility, determination, and forward movement, making it a particularly fitting design for practitioners.
A Tenugui is a traditional Japanese hand cloth or lightweight towel. In Kendo, it is commonly worn around the head beneath the Men to absorb sweat during training. Tenugui are also widely used in other martial arts, often kept inside the Gi as a convenient, lightweight towel for removing sweat during demanding training sessions.
Although thin and lightweight, the deluxe cotton fabric is super soft and highly absorbent. The Tenugui folds neatly, making it easy to store inside a Keikogi, training bag, or luggage without taking up unnecessary space. It can also be used as a hand towel, travel towel, training cloth, or general-purpose everyday cloth.

Please note that tenugui are hand-cut, so dimensions may vary slightly.
- Wash before first use to remove any excess dye or finishing residue.
- Machine wash or hand wash in cool or lukewarm water.
- Wash dark or brightly coloured Tenugui separately during the first few washes, as some colour bleeding may occur.
- Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Avoid high-temperature washing, which may cause slight shrinkage or affect the print.
- Smooth out wrinkles by stretching the edges while the cloth is still wet.
- Air dry naturally whenever possible. Hang or lay flat to dry.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, particularly with richly coloured or printed designs, as this may cause fading.
Important Note
Tenugui are traditionally unfinished along the cut edges. The edges may initially fray slightly after washing, this is normal. Simply trim any long loose threads if necessary; do not pull them.
Expect natural changes with use. Traditional tenugui can soften and develop a distinctive character over time
