Nice balance, the perfect length for the shorter-in-stature swordsman. benefits from a rub down with fine wire wool for a very smooth feel. The engraving option on the tsuka is VERY nice and the red in-fill I chose is a tasteful, slightly darker red. One thing though, the ‘vertical orientation’ for kanji characters places them so they’re read with the blade facing downwards. I would’ve preferred them spun around by 180 degrees like the kanji on the tang of a sword.

I bought this bokken and it came in yesterday.
The wood is of high quality but it came a little rough on a spot.Sanded it a little and now it is a charm to hold!
The bokken comes uncoated but after a little walnut oil coat it's everything i could've wished for.
Definitely recommend for katori shinto ryu practitioners.

Brilliant Bokken
I was looking for a well balanced none tsuba bokken to aid teaching and my own studies. I purchased one from nine circles many years ago and my katori Shinto Ryu bokken has remained my favorite. I recently purchased one as a gift for someone I know will appreciate it. Again great product and excellent service.

Simply amazing
I'm training with this bokken about 6 months now and it's a love from a first training :) It's just perfectly balanced and thus nice to use. But be prepared for the good weight if you are training with light bokken now.

Recommended.
I'm on my second Katori Shinto Ryu Bokken. I loved so much the first that I bought one to offer to my master. Very strong and balanced they support the heavy use for the demanding Katori Shinto Ryu Katas. I recommend this bokken to others.
