Bearing a legendary name in the history of Japanese sword arts, the Yagyu Koshirae take its influence from the famous Yagyu Shinkage Ryu school of swordsmanship, established in the 16th century.
The blacked steel hilt fittings, feature a mist motif evoking an image of the shadows (Kage) and following the theme of a historic sword associated with the Yagyu Shinkage lineage. The sword also features a reversed Menuki position as standard, an idiosyncrasy of the Yagyu Shinkage Ryu school not often seen outside of the tradition.
The Yagyu Koshirae’s outstanding Inro Saya, traditionally wrapped with rattan and covered with classic black high gloss lacquer, creates an elegant yet striking finish to a first-class Iaito.
