Since opening, Minosaka has been proudly producing high quality swords which reflect the spirit of Japanese Bushido. At Nine Circles we have stocked a wide range of ready-to-ship Minosaka Iaito for over 10 years. We are now also proud to offer a full range of customised Iaito from Minosaka. This guide is designed to help you navigate the different models and options available for customisation. You can check about Minosaka’s history HERE.
Our first recomendation is that before you buy a training sword, we strongly advise discussing the process with your Sensei. You need to confirm that you are ready to move on to an Iaito and if there are considerations of length, weight or style which would be important for you. Minosaka customisable models have a fixed set of Fuchi/Kashira which define the model, those can’t be modified or changed. The customisation elements come in the form of the additional fittings and features. Menuki, Tsuka Ito Colours and Hamon are just some of the options available to chose from. Remember that orders cannot be modified or cancelled once placed, so be sure you are happy with your choices before finalising your order.
The standard lead time for Custom Minosaka Iaito is between 10–12 weeks on average. The sword will be shipped to Nine Circles warehouse for final inspection before going to its new owner.

You can choose between Hinerimaki and Hiramaki for your Tsuka wrapping style, and pick one of the available colours of Ito. Some of the models have silk as a standard and there’s no extra fee for those.

Minosaka also offers a nice range of Saya upgrades. The options available vary from model to model, and some of them have a fixed Saya type. You will find in the descriptions which Saya comes as a standard for each model.
These are the Tsuba options available for the Minosaka Iaito models, and their respective dimentions and weights. Please note that the Junior Iaito only offers Tsuru, Muji and Namako Tsuba options for customisation.
